We are now hiring for our 2025 SEASON. Our season runs from May to October with the option to work full-time or part-time in the Fall (September & October). This will be our 3rd season offering full-time staff members with the option to work a 4-Day work week during the months of May, June, July & August.

 Bike Rental Attendant

 The primary goal of this job is the successful fulfillment of bike rental orders and reservations from start to finish in a way that maximizes client satisfaction while creating a diverse, team-oriented, safe, and supportive environment for all team members along with the proper care of our bike inventory and day-to-day store operations on the very busy Halifax Boardwalk. 

Pay Scale: $15.20 to $17 per hour

Hours: 35 to 40 hrs per week (option for 4 Day work week 36 hrs); part-time option available & flexible start date

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in English both written and oral
  • French or another spoken language is considered an asset
  • Interest in bike maintenance and bicycling; bike maintenance experience will be considered a plus
  • Proponent will complete a 30 day on-the-job bike maintenance training program
  • Enjoy working outdoors in a fast-paced environment; prepared to work in a variety of outdoor conditions including heat, rain and more cold temperatures on the shoulder season (May & October)

Responsibilities:

  • Fulfill bike rental reservations and orders
  • Open store and properly set-up for the day
  • Close store and properly store equipment for use next day
  • Ensure all rental equipment is returned and in adherence to the rental agreement
  • Greet and assist customers
  • Option to give guided tours

 

Tour Guide

As a Tour Guide, you’ll lead groups of cyclists on guided tours of Halifax, showcasing the city’s history, landmarks, and cultural attractions. If you’re passionate about cycling, history, and customer service, we want to hear from you!

Pay Scale: $17 to $19 per hour

Hours: 35 to 40 hrs per week (option for 4 Day work week 36 hrs); part-time option available & flexible start date

Responsibilities:

  • Lead guided bike tours of various durations and difficulties, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants
  • Share knowledge of Halifax’s history, landmarks, and cultural attractions
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the city’s bike infrastructure, roads, and traffic patterns
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of tour participants, providing clear instructions and guidance throughout the tour
  • Collaborate with other guides and staff to ensure seamless tour operations and high-quality customer service
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance knowledge and skills
  • Provide feedback and insights to improve tour content, routes, and overall customer experience
  • Maintain a high level of physical fitness and ability to ride a bike for extended periods
  • Fulfill responsibilities of Bike Rental Attendant when necessary

Lead Tour Guide

As a Lead Tour Guide, you’ll be responsible for delivering exceptional guided bike tours to our customers, showcasing the beauty and charm of Halifax while motivating and supporting your peers in doing the same. If you’re passionate about cycling, Halifax, and customer service, we want to hear from you!

Pay Scale: $18 to $19 per hour

Hours: 35 to 40 hrs per week (option for 4 Day work week 36 hrs)

Team Leader

The primary goal of this job is to a build a team that focuses on empowering youth with an entrepreneurial mindset to meet the day-to-day demands of this eco-tourism operation on the Halifax Boardwalk. Goals include the supervision and assistance in the successful fulfillment of bike rental and tour orders and reservations from start to finish in a way that maximizes client satisfaction while creating a diverse, team-oriented, safe, and supportive environment for all team members and the proper care of our bike inventory and day-to-day store operations on the very busy Halifax Boardwalk.

Pay Scale: $19 to $21 per hour

Hours: 35 to 40 hrs per week (option for 4 Day work week 36 hrs)

Requirements:

  • Preferably post-secondary students studying tourism, commerce, management, sustainability, entrepreneurship or another related field
  • Experience in a supervisor role is considered an asset
  • Effective leader with the ability to delegate tasks, motivate, and lead by example
  • Proficiency in English both written and oral
  • French or another spoken language is considered an asset
  • Interest in bike maintenance and bicycling; bike maintenance experience will be considered a plus
  • Proponent will complete a 30 day on-the-job bike maintenance training program

Responsibilities:

  • Optimize day-to-day operations to ensure operational excellence and efficiency. This includes delegating tasks such as prepping bike reservations, addressing out-of-order bikes, coordinating staff breaks, scheduling bike maintenance, or coordinating tour departures.
  • Provide ongoing training and feedback to staff
  • Evaluate and introduce new systems to meet the goals of operational excellence, team engagement and diversity, onsite safety, and customer satisfaction
  • Utilize technology to track rental equipment, manage reservations, and communicate effectively
  • Identify opportunities for new technologies that reduce errors and assist in repetitive tasks and meet business objectives
  • Listen actively to staff and customers actively working to incorporate feedback into operational standards and guidelines

Bike Hero (Maintenance Lead)

Pay: $16 to $19 per hour

Hours: 35 to 40 hrs per week (option for 4 Day work week 36 hrs); part-time option available

This position is for an individual passionate about bicycle mechanics. Interested parties do not need to be able to complete all tasks immediately but must have a keen interest in bicycle mechanics and a desire to problem solve, work with their hands, and hone their skills. This position must also perform all tasks related to our Bike Rental Attendant position.

Skills you have or are building:

  • Fix & identify sources of flats
  • Replace tires
  • Replace Spokes
  • Remove and install cassettes
  • True Wheels both laterally and radially
  • Perform HUB adjustments
  • Remove and install pedals
  • Replace chains, brake pads
  • Familiarity with maintaining mechanical and hydraulic disc brakes
  • Perform rotor truing and replacement
  • Straighten bent derailleurs
  • Install and adjust front and rear derailleurs; perform indexing

Responsibilities:

  • Assess and resolve out of order bikes in timely manner
  • Work with Supervisor and Staff to complete regularly scheduled maintenance
  • Support team members to build their maintenance skills
  • Monitor parts inventory and submit low quantities for reorder to supervisor

Brand Ambassador

We’re seeking a highly motivated and creative Brand Ambassador to join our team at I Heart Bikes. As a Brand Ambassador you’ll play a key role in developing and implementing our social media strategy, creating engaging content, and growing our online presence as well finding new and creative ways to engage and interact with our community on the vibrant Halifax Waterfront. 

Pay Scale: $18 to $20 per hour

Hours: 35 to 40 hrs per week (option for 4 Day work week 36 hrs)

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program (marketing, communications, business, etc.) or recent graduate
  • Preferably 1-2 years of experience in social media marketing or a related field
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, their features, and how to leverage them for marketing purposes
  • Excellent content creation skills (writing, photography, videography, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with social media management tools and analytics software
  • Knowledge of SEO principles and how to optimize social media content for search

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and implementing an engaging social media strategy that enhances our brand and engages our community
  • Create high-quality, engaging content (posts, stories, reels, etc.) that showcases our brand, products, and services
  • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and reviews on social media in a timely and professional manner
  • Find ways to increase customer feedback and online reviews
  • Collaborate with our team to brainstorm new ideas, campaigns, and promotions
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends, best practices, and platform changes
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations when necessary to provide bike rentals and guided tours
